What We Do

Our Services

We are not your ordinary foster care agency that just drops children off at a foster family’s door, leaving the rest of the work in the hands of the foster parents. Journey Home’s purpose is to help children and support our foster parents.

Emergency respite care is an unscheduled break due to a crisis that can occur in any household. In an attempt to deescalate a difficult situation, emergency respite care is utilized to allow everyone (both the foster parent and the child), a cooling down period.

Independent Living Arrangement

As part of our Foster Care Program, we offer a thriving Independent Living Program that has been quite beneficial in preparing youth in foster care for emancipation and transitioning into adulthood, including lighting the path for youth to transition to the Ohio Bridges Program.

Pre-Service Training
Pre-Service Training

One of the first and also one of the most important steps foster and adoptive parents complete is Pre-Service training. Required by the State of Ohio, these classes are designed to educate you about the children available for adoption and to prepare you to parent them.

Counseling Agency
Counseling Agency

Quality Moments, is a specialized counseling agency focused on the most vulnerable of our population. Our purpose is to provide trauma informed care to children, adults, and families that are struggling with mental health, addiction, and interruptions to their family systems.

The Journey Home Foster Care program focuses on three key areas: Recruitment, Training, and Support.

Recruitment
We strive to find high-quality caregivers for the children we serve. The intended result of recruitment is to find a family who is motivated and committed to providing a safe and stable environment for a child. The knowledge and skills of the foster parents are critical to the well-being of the children in their care.
Training
Our training takes a comprehensive approach and requires families to complete pre-service training prior to being licensed as a foster or adoptive home. Families must also complete ongoing training hours to continue their education. Journey Home offers many opportunities for ongoing training and a variety of topics to meet the needs of the families and children that we serve.
Support
After a child is placed with a family, the goal is to provide unequaled support for the entire family. Our experienced and professional case managers are committed and available to the families. They also provide in-home services, identify community resources, and act as the liaison between the family and the CPS caseworker.

The Journey Home Difference

At Journey Home, we understand that children learn from their experiences. Children in foster care have already had many obstacles in life, and we want their experiences in foster care with us to be positive. We desire to build lasting connections to help children realize their potential, to give them a reason to have hope, to believe in themselves again, and to begin to heal physically and mentally.
